I posted here last week about how doomsayers always get it wrong. It seems that Livescience beat me to it by a day.

    Agreed. Livescience handicaps itself with political correctness. The most obvious examples of doomsday cults are the modern ones devoted to global warming and other fashionable enthusiasms of people who think themselves above religion.
