Some Chicago Boyz know each other from student days at the University of Chicago. Others are Chicago boys in spirit. The blog name is also intended as a good-humored gesture of admiration for distinguished Chicago boys including those pictured above.

Pope Benedict's (then fr. Ratzinger) book "Introduction to Christianity" is a profound book that will deepen your faith or literally introduce you to the Christian faith if you've ever wondered what the hubbub has been about for more than 2000 years.

Richard, you can find some of Lex's book reviews here and links to all of his posts here. I regret that there isn't a simpler way to do it.

Thanks. I look forward to these and wish that there were some easy way to go back to some of the past one's I have missed. The link for Plato to NATO is incorrect.

Fixed. Thanks.

Your review of the last book you mention by Joseph Ratzinger recalls my recent reading of another title of his,
God is Near Us.
I just picked it up one day during the time after he became Pope, finding out he had written quite a lot. I was surprised to find that his lucid style and logical approach made reading something that can be esoteric so easy and enjoyable. The book I read deals with the symbology of the Eucharist, with Ratzinger breaking down every line to go into further detail about its meanings. I came away from the book with a sense of awe at beauty of these meanings, it was impossible to be critical of anything that was being said. Since the book was mostly a collection of sermons he gave as Archbishop in Munich, the tone was modest and welcoming, contrary to his detractors labeling him as extreme and intolerant. Ratzinger is truly gifted.
