I will say this for la Pelosi – the only nice thing I do have to say about her – is that she is always beautifully dressed for the occassion; classy, professional and understated, with tasteful accessories suitable to her age and station. But since she and hubby are millionaires several times over since she got her grubby and tastefully manicured paws on higher office – I shouldn’t be surprised. Still, I wish she would give some pointers to Michelle O, who is usually wince-worthy, nine times out of ten.

Nancy Pelosi talking about dignity is like Yogi Bera talking about particle physics.

I would believe Yogi Berra’s statements about particle physics before I would believe anything Nancy Pelosi says. Yogi Berra has made pity, witty statements. “Prediction is hard, especially about the future.” Well, yes. There is wisdom behind the humor. [As I am a citizen of Red Sox Nation, I have no inherent bias in favor of Yogi Berra.]

Here are some paraphrases of famous Nancy Pelosi quotes:

“Natural gas is a fossil fuel.”
“We have to pass Obamacare so we can find out what is in it.”
“We don’t have a spending problem, we have a revenue problem.”

Those Pelosi statements are jokes. Unlike Yogi Berra, who is joking, Nancy Pelosi is speaking in total seriousness. Yogi Berra deliberately makes absurd statements- statements which have a kernel of truth behind their absurdity. Nancy Pelosi makes absurd statement while believing those statements are true.

Yogi Berra is a wise fool. Nancy Pelosi is simply a fool- as are those who believe her.

VSSC…that is *directionally* her point, but she and those like her haven’t yet been able to fully achieve it. A Jamie Dimon or a successful software entrepreneur probably have more status among most people, despite the fact that they are “in trade” (as the old disdainful English expression had it) than the Dean of the Gender Studies Department or the head of the Bureau of Pointless Regulations.
