Murderous US Gun Culture

Bill Whittle is in great form here, showing how simplistic international murder-rate comparisons that fail to consider US cultural diversity are fatally flawed. (One quibble: Honduras isn’t a socialist country. However, this fact is irrelevant to Whittle’s argument.)

  1. I noticed the crime capital of Orange County, which is Santa Ana, there at 3.3 murders per 100,000. Whittle did not mention anything about race, of course, as we know it is a legacy of slavery. What else ? Santa Ana happens to be the local capital of illegal alien occupation.

We had a murder in Mission Viejo this week. It made a dozen column inches in the newspaper. Husband killed his wife. I’m sure it is the first one this year.

  2. In Switzerland every able bodied male is issued a rifle and required to own it. Municipal elections and referendums are usually done in a town meeting style, and the men are expected to bring their firearms with them.
Imagine if that was done in Chicago. It would reduce crime and election fraud all at the same time.

  3. Rates of violent crime in the US pretty much come down to race. Americans of NW European descent have homicide rates little different from NW Europeans. East Asian populations have low crime rates all over the world. The US Territory of the Virgin Islands which has a 90% Afro-Cariibean population would have the third highest homicide rate in the world if it were an independent country.

Low repeat alleles of the MAOA gene are associated with higher levels of violence. The association is particularly strong with the 2R allele. The frequency of this allele is US white males is about .1% versus a frequency of 5-10% in US black males. Higher rates of violence are also associated with lower IQ so the the one standard deviation between the average white-black IQ in the US is an important factor in US crime rates.

  4. That Whittle just slays me (a term Mom liked to use, not heard much anymore) I loved his Virtual President. I wonder if their could be a position for such a guy in a future administration.

  5. It’s said that the price of real estate depends on 3 factors 1. Location 2. Location 3. Location. Violent crime also depends on 3 factors 1. Race 2. Race 3. Race.

  6. “Americans of NW European descent have homicide rates little different from NW Europeans”

Ours is actually lower although the Muslims may figure in there somewhere.

    Race and culture are confounded.

The US Territory of the Virgin Islands which has a 90% Afro-Cariibean population would have the third highest homicide rate in the world if it were an independent country.

Honduras, which currently may have the highest homicide rate, is mostly mestizo/Indian/white.

In the USA southerners of all races have higher violent-crime rates than do non-southerners.

Related to the point about southerners: American whites of Scots-Irish descent have higher violent-crime rates than do American whites of East Anglian, Norwegian or Jewish descent.

Violent crime rates change with time. For example, Honduras wasn’t always the world homicide capital.

Most of what’s going on here maps clearly to culture. The extent to which it maps to genotypes is uncertain.

  8. To Mike K. – The Moslem population of Nowth West Europe not a NW European population. They are very different genetically.

  9. Jim, I assume the study was done by crime statistics and I doubt the statistics included religion. The only way to find out would be to study smaller populations, like Malmo Sweden. That’s not a very scientific source but most such sources are very PC.

  10. More like “yuts with poor control of antisocial impulses,” Dearie. Plus family members who after the inevitable fatal clash with authorities or someone with better aim, will wail “He was a good boy, he dindo nuffin’!”
I’ve started to refer to such yutes as ‘Dindus’. I’m hoping to make it an internet meme.
