This may just be another of those cusp-of-sleep insights that don’t pan out, but does it occur to anyone else that the global-control, transnational police, whatever you want to call the movement may have now shot its bolt, and missed?

I mean, think of it; they’ve now thrown out The End Of The World, essentially, and it’s going nowhere. With scientists defecting daily from the IPCC “consensus”, Mars warming, and all the other newish scientific information indicating there is no looming (man-made) global catastrophe, I believe the beginning of the end of AGW alarmism is visible. Now that the end of the world card has been played and trumped, I can’t imagine what else they have up their sleeve to get leverage over the great (ahem) nations.

Ain’t no such thing as a low carbon society, since we are carbon-based life forms. But quibbling aside, the calm that does exist in a low carbon siciety is the calm of the grave – when atibiotics and other life-saving inventions that depend on petro carbon are impossible to get.

And that calm is deceptive, because it’s only looking at a small snapshot of life in non-petrocarbon eras – most of them were much more full of blodshed and warfare than even the 20th century because of scarce resources – that pesky old human nature again.

People like Al Gore and others flying around on private jets and living in big mansions make it clear to me that they really do not believe in global warming themselves. Global warming is simply an excuse for the political classes to loot the economy and destroy opportunity for the rest of us. Anytime any problem is used as justification to increase the power and scope of bureaucracy, its clear that that is what its purpose is.

This is the proper context to view global warming.

Ms Appleton is going a bit overboard with the metaphysics, but I agree that technological fixes will help to relieve the problem (such as it is). We are looking at climate change (naturally, or anthropogenic isn’t clear yet), not a climate disaster.
