Some Chicago Boyz know each other from student days at the University of Chicago. Others are Chicago boys in spirit. The blog name is also intended as a good-humored gesture of admiration for distinguished Chicago boys including those pictured above.

Uh... he is strange looking, and I know his name.

Not looking to attract trolls so I usually don't refer to a lot of celebrities.

Um, excuse you, but that "strange looking singer" from Gnarls Barkley has a name, and his name is CEE-LO GREEN. And he's NOT strange looking, so get it straight.

Good post.

One thing you failed to mention is the impact of satellite radio. For $14 per month, less than one CD, I get my choice of virtually unlimited music genres and other information like news, financials and sports. To me, this was the godsend I was looking for that almost severed me completely from any record company (save royalties that XM pays to labels, if any).

In my case, I am paying for something I never paid for before (radio) but there are now no commercials. I used to pay for CD's (hundreds of them) but now they are on their way to the used CD store. The odds are that I will never buy any recorded music again, unless it is one of my "key" artists like the Pixies or anything else to do with Frank Black, Henry Rollins, Poster Children or some of my other favorite bands.

It is pretty cool that many CD's come with little videos on them now as well, but that isn't enough to get me to buy them.
