First rule of bachelor cooking, cook everything on high.

Did you dig out the “good” part in the middle and just leave the charred remains on the outsides?

I ate all of it.

Holy crap! How many of these behaviours must I recognize in myself before I should worry that I'm a bachelor in the body of a middle-aged married woman????

First rule of bachelor cooking, cook everything on high.

I think we try to cook things to fast in a microwave. Taking even an extra 5 minutes to cook something at lower power can produce significant improvements. I suggest starting the cooking process at half power for twice as long ad recommended. This will let heat build and spread evenly through the food. Then finish off with full power for about 1/4 of the recommended cooking time if needed.

4 min at 100% power = 8 min at 50% power or 40 minutes at 10% power YMMV.
