Some Chicago Boyz know each other from student days at the University of Chicago. Others are Chicago boys in spirit. The blog name is also intended as a good-humored gesture of admiration for distinguished Chicago boys including those pictured above.

Don't forget to countersue if you can. It helps to mention that your perfectly willing to spend a lot of money to protect your rights and to punish those that infringe upon them.

I've been threatened with lawsuits, but only by people living in Australia for some reason. I have no idea what the law is like in the Land Down Under, but they were all surprised when I said "Try it! I live in the Land of the 1st Amendment!"

I think I did get a letter from a lawyer someone hired once. It wasn't a cease and desist notice, just a notice that they were going to send one along if I didn't cease and desist on my own.

I wrote them back, saying that I welcomed a lawsuit because it would mean I had hit the blogging big time. ("Instalaunch! Instalaunch! Rah rah rah!") But I needed someone to actually file before I mentioned it on my blog. They never bothered to write back.

It is obvious why people fear lawsuits. Money lost, the potential for reputations ruined. But if you are in my position, where there have been death threats because of my charity work, then having someone go crying to a judge because they think I am a big ol' meaney for what I posted in my blog seems so chickens**t.
