  1. The key point, not made by Salon, was that he reflexively LIED immediately when the issue arose. Salon was more about the tactics of how to handle the issue, but they didn’t really have any conceptual issues with the fact that he was an outright liar.

    After all, he’s their guy.

  2. He didn’t lie. Republican’s lie. Democrats are less than artful.

He misspoke – or was taken out of context – it is blasphemy to doubt the Chosen One.

  3. there is no evidence that Obama did anything wrong. It is clear that the article is about the way in which he handled it–and Salon seems off on this too. Perhaps we ought to look at hard evidence rather than making snide comments via Glenn’s gusher site

  4. there is no evidence that Obama did anything wrong.

That would be direct evidence. Rezko’s buddy for 20 years. Check. Worked on Blago’s campaign for Governor twice – check. Penny Pritzker worked as campaign finance chairman. Check. Joe Johnson on the VP selection team until it became inconvenient. Check. Singled out by Daniel Mudd as a friend of Fannie’s. Check.

Seems like a lot of loose threads that can be pulled on to see what unravels.

  5. > there is no evidence that Obama did anything wrong.

There’s no evidence that Bush told a lie about WMDs and Iraq.

Funny how the mantra’s different depending on the source, innit?

    More critically, is Thoreau’s Razor:

Some circumstantial evidence is very strong, as when you find a trout in the milk.

  7. Harold P. Butts III,

there is no evidence that Obama did anything wrong.

I didn’t say he did anything wrong. In my original post, I said that Illinois/Chicago corrupt politics would cause problems for Obama and that supporters and the media had not examined that possibility.

Now we have this scandal right out the chute before he can even assume office. I told you so.

Expect more problems. Now that they can use the state’s corruption against a Democratic president, the national Republicans will dig and dig. Remember, they have years to dig up stuff.
