Yes or No?

Baron Bodissey at Gates of Vienna has a post regarding a counter-protest by Gathering of Eagles, an “organization that has dedicated itself to guarding America’s war memorials against desecration by anti-war activists and countering the smears against our military by traitors on the Left.”

At the Gathering of Eagles site I found this post, entitled Pittsburgh: Antiwar Leftists Plan to Confine Recruiters in a “Movable Cage”. A Leftist Pittsburgh-area group, which I won’t link, to stated that it plans for a protest at local military recruiting station on March 19, 2008:

If the station remains open, we intend to evict it and everything inside of it, occupy the location, and transform it into something useful for the community. We’ll also be bringing a movable cage in which to confine military recruiters until they no longer pose a danger to our friends and neighbors.

These people intend to place our military personnel in a “moveable cage”. Our military personnel are not in a position to respond to this illegal, degrading and abusive treatment with gunfire. This is occurring here and now in the United States. It is 1968 again in the minds of the Left and our military personnel are being treated like dirt by the Left due to an unpopular war.

Here is my suggestion. It is the practice of leftist community activists to loudly and stridently demand yes or no answer to simple questions from the victims of their protests, and to shout down any answer but a yes or no. This method is effective.

The American public needs to know.

Senator Clinton? Senator Obama? Do you condemn this protest in Pittsburgh? Do you condemn all protests which attack and degrade and insult our military personnel who are recruiting for our all-volunteer armed forces? Yes or No?

No speeches. No flatulence. No blather. You want to be Commander in Chief.

Yes or No.

Tell us.

  1. If I remember criminal correctly, it would be kidnapping. The local police should free the imprisoned and arrest their captors. There is probably also federal jurisdiction.

  2. We’ll also be bringing a movable cage in which to confine military recruiters until they no longer pose a danger to our friends and neighbors.

I’d pay good money to watch them try, but much like giving a cat a bath, it will require the very unlikely buy-in of both participants to accomplish without bloodshed.

  3. If the station remains open, we intend to evict it and everything inside of it, occupy the location, and transform it into something useful for the community.

    “Here is my suggestion…”

Wake me up when we decide to respond to direct action in kind.

  4. A. They don’t have the stones to try.
    B. If they suddenly grew them the recruiters have every right to defend themselves. Want to bet who wins?
    C. The Left will try for the POW images of Vietnam with the prisoners being publicly paraded in cages like animals. They don’t need to actually succeed. The images of the cages will suffice.
    D. If they gather, they will trash the recruiting station, the Leftist local government will stand by, declare helplessness, tell us how wrong it is but “we can’t help it”.
E.The local press will try and capture images of the any action that reflects poorly on the recruiters and show the “Evil Bushhitler Stormtroopers” abusing the First Amendment Rights of the poor demonstrators that are just trying to bring peace to the world.
    F. The circus will move on to the next town.

  5. This is bullshit of the highest order. I’m not sure whether or not there are degrees of kidnapping (armed, not armed, etc.), but I can think of numerous charges right off the bat to convict these lefty traitors of (e.g. several charges of kidnapping, & most likely battery, since I have no doubt that these loonies are going to quickly progress to the rocks-&-molotov-cocktails stage). & make no mistake, whatever they might have been before, they are traitors & sadists now.

  6. Kidnapping
    Assault
    Theft
    Possession of stolen property
    Vandalism
    Trespassing
    Terroristic threats
    Destruction of federal government property
Assault of a uniformed service member

I say let them do it and have about fifty other people recording the entire incident, especially the cage. You want to see the anti-war movement disappear overnight; these protesters would be lucky to be alive the following day.

I will say though that I always take these events with a grain, especially in this case. If you visit the site of these dimwits you will see that they are planning to arrive at about 1830, more than likely after the recruiters have closed for the day and gone home. I would be more impressed if the fools went during the workday….but that might mean the soldiers would actually be there.

  7. I would also like to mention that if such a thing were planned here, they would be met, and it wouldn’t be pretty. Even here in Minskesota, Land of 10,000 Welfare Programs.

  8. I agree that the protestors don’t have the cojones to carry out their threat. However, should they do so, I hope it receives the widest media dsitribution possible. Yes, it’s 1968 all over again, and just like in 1968, the Dems will be hoplessly locked into such antics. The average American will equate over-the-top antics like this with Obama’s and Hillary’s anti-war rhetoric, and want no part of it. These morons do grab a lot of headlines, but they inevitably lose a lot of elections too. I’ll make that trade any day.

  9. The police should plan ahead to have enough manpower to arrest as many as possible. Charge them all with kidnapping and all members of the group who were not their with conspiracy to kidnap under Rico.

In fact, why wait. Arrest them for consipiracy now. They have already planned the crime.

  10. Yes indeed. Kidnapping, unlawful confinement, obstructing a federal official in the performance of his duties. What is also displayed is a conspiracy to commit such acts. If law enforcement had such blatant evidence of conspiracy be it a terrorist act or a bank robbery, would they hesitate to arrest? The real question is there a Attorney General with enough balls to prosecute those involved in such a conspiracy. I believe the answer is NO. And thus the problem will continue to spiral out of control until a human sacrifice is offered up or the citizenry take it upon themselves to end such behavior.

  11. All of the available information leads to the conclusion that the crimes could be prosecuted both locally and Federally.
Although never done before, the Conspiracy charges could lead to charging them and anyone supporting them over their websites with violating the RICO Act.
Let them find out if they like Federal prisons.

  12. What I’d like to know is what group is next on the Big List of Class Enemies, and when these vanguards of the people will be setting up their gulags…

  13. “It is 1968 again in the minds of the Left and our military personnel are being treated like dirt by the Left due to an unpopular war.”

No, it’s not 1968 again, for them it’s perpetually 1968.

I dunno. Maybe the recruiters should let themselves be caged. Then the Right can put a picture of that next to pictures of actual US POWs in cages in Vietnam. That would illustrate how depraved these demonstrators are. Then again, the Left would say it was just a cheap propaganda trick.
