It would appear that the urge to shine lasers at airplane pilots isn’t just confined to Cleveland. This news story says that someone was doing the same thing in New York.
Something tells me that this is a copycat. “Hey, the other guy in Ohio got some press, let’s see if they’ll mention me!”

While the many articles assume that the goal of shining the lasers is to blind the pilots, here’s a post from The Daily Brief that makes (I think) a good case that something worse may be afoot.
