The “Lunchbox Inspectors” reminds me of the East German Ministry for State Security–Stasi–at the peak of their power. One of their official and very visible jobs was to guard copier machines to prevent inappropriate copying
Think about it…one job for every copy machine. The human and economic costs were never a consideration to the state.
East Germany’s collapse, which took a while, was inevitable.
