Oooh, Jonathan Richman (sp?). A friend of mine said about that song that Richman had discovered the last great rock and roll riff.
Yeah, the Modern Lovers, Jonathan Richman’s band. Surely your friend is too pessimistic — there will be great riffs in the years to come. Plus, there have been great riffs since. How about the intro to “Pretty Vacant”, or the Runaways’ “American Nights”? But, while it is not the last, it is indeed one of the best.
