When this battle started for some reason I kept thinking of the battle of Stalingrad in World War 2 and the street fighting there. It says something about our boys over there that we had so relatively few casualties. I know, I know, tell it to the mother who lost a son. But, Thank God.

I don’t think it says as much about our boys over there than it says about different kinds of boys over here.
In other words, US superiority on the battlefields is purely a factor of economic and technical advantage we have enjoyed in the last 60 or so years.
Now, it is true that this was not a random occurrence and this advantage has its roots in the freedom and general permissiveness towards creativity and ingenuity of the people afforded to them by US social and political system , but that’s another story …
