H. Cartier-Bresson: Manatee on the Banks of the Marne River (1938)
Some Chicago Boyz know each other from student days at the University of Chicago. Others are Chicago boys in spirit. The blog name is also intended as a good-humored gesture of admiration for distinguished Chicago School economists and fellow travelers.

A sea cow!
Mais oui, mon cher Incog. Une vache de mer. C’est incroyable!
I had a 21′ sailboat in the early 1980s and for 3 or 4 years I was with it on weekends.
I took up residence in (southwest) Forida only a couple years before this and was not acquainted with the manatee. The first time I saw one in the wild was in a fresh wind and two foot seas about a quarter mile off Cayo Costa. It was about fifty yards from me and I had only a glimpse of it between waves and was amazed. Not knowing what I saw I truly thought I might have been halucinating.
dragons and beasties, oh my!
Any manatees left without blade marks on their backs?
That reminds me — what happened to http://www.tastymanatees.com/ ?
Maybe the Manatee Liberation Front got to him.
