I need to get a Skype headset to do radio interviews.
Quality is important, so I can’t go rock bottom cheap.
Any suggestions, particularly from first-hand experience, would be greatly appreciated.
Some Chicago Boyz know each other from student days at the University of Chicago. Others are Chicago boys in spirit. The blog name is also intended as a good-humored gesture of admiration for distinguished Chicago School economists and fellow travelers.

I use a Plantronics W730 wireless. It works Skype, land-line, cell phone. As deaf as I am sound quality and volume control is highest priority and this unit works for me in our office. They’re about $300 or so. I walk around the office and don’t lose the connections plus I can hang up wherever I am with the handset lifter attachment. Can’t say enough for this unit. I’m the guy the folks say:” he’s deaf in one ear and can’t hear with the other”.
Make sure that whichever headset you get works with Mac, if that’s what you’re using. I’ve been using cheap headsets that work adequately for me, but I notice on re-reading Amazon reviews complaints that some headsets don’t work with OS X.
I have a Koss SB/49. I use it for music (mostly classical) and for on-line video games such as Eve. Excellent quality for listening and the microphone has received compliments from my on-line teammates. At less than $30 it is a steal.
