I like the second and third illustrations a lot. And it appears to be the same woman in all the illustrations. I was speculating why, then thought there’s probably an entire story to tell in the answer to that.

He probably had a particular model he used when he prepared this series of pictures. He probably worked from photographs, which was typical of illustrators at that time. So he probably set up the sets and costumes with one model, shot all the photos, then painted the pictures.
