Some Chicago Boyz know each other from student days at the University of Chicago. Others are Chicago boys in spirit. The blog name is also intended as a good-humored gesture of admiration for distinguished Chicago School economists and fellow travelers.

A local food truck advertises itself as “The Van of Death”.
The entire gourmet food truck phenomenon is a testament to the irrepressible entrepreneurial spirit, even when markets — in this case real estate markets — are stacked against upstarts.
Many years ago, I lived near a dog track. We’d go up in the lounge to watch the “action”. I could never figure out the betting thing, but watching the people was really interesting. About twenty years ago, local news reported that someone walking through the woods had found a huge pile of dead dogs out behind the track property. The tattoo’s had been cut off.
That guy walking the dog with the furtive glance makes me wonder what other chores he might have.
The precursor to the food truck in our neck of the woods, was known as “The Roach Coach” The jokes and heartburn were plentiful.
