  1. Years ago, I decided to sell my 1965 VW van. It was about 8 years old and in great shape.

A young woman and two guys showed up to buy it. They were going to drive it to Santa Cruz and live in it. Her father had given her the money,.

It was 1972 and that was a time when hippies were real.

As they were taking possession, I showed them the warrantees for the battery and some other stuff. I had the service records.

The young guy, who was sort of the leader, listened to me explain all this and was just amazed that were such things as service records and warrantees.

I wished them well and off they went. I sometimes wondered how they made out

  2. VW is bringing back a version of the microbus that will be all electric. The word is they are trying to atone for their emissions scandal and that it will even have a solar panel on top. The tentative plan is to sell it in Europe in a few years as a fleet vehicle, which is also how the original started. Will there be consumer demand this time around? I can’t speak for kids today, but if it were me, I don’t care how much I pay, I want to drive my bus to my baby each day.

Greenies got all excited when Toyota put a solar panel on top of the Prius probably not realizing that 100 watts isn’t going to power the car.

  4. I saw a picture of thousands parked in the Arizona desert, in the general area of Davis-Monthan AFB. I expect they will be scraped or shredded.
