Saturday at the Protest 2-26-11 – “Signs”

Sights from last Saturday at the protests beneath the fold if you like.

First, a musical interlude by the official band of this blog, Tesla.

Signs, signs, everywhere there’s signs
F1ckin’ up the scenery, breakin’ my mind
Do this, don’t do that, can’t you read the sign

Inside the capitol, the orderly passing out of information.

I can’t stress enough one thing – how each and every square inch of my beautiful capitol building was plastered with these ugly signs. It is disgusting.

  1. I think plastering the signs everywhere is an expression of narcissism. These people think so highly of their self-appointed mission and therefore themselves, that they think they believe they have an inherent rite to break the rules that lessor mortals must follow.

Leftism is always about elitism one way of the other. Leftists always have to see themselves as special people with special rules.

  2. Dan,

You had a question mark on one slogan posted. “Walker Culero [?]”. I shall try to give you a definition that is not as crude as it is. First, y’all have some Hispanics there. It is Tex-Mex slang that I recognize from here in Colorado. It very crudely [a culturally far more insulting phrase that it directly translates into in English, as in a coroner would end up being called] implies a preference for males over females, and a preference for receiving rather than giving.

I thought Leftists were supposed to be gay friendly and supportive and not tolerate nasty insults based on sexual orientation. Who’d have thunk [sic]it?

I have heard conflicting reports. I know that they decided not to evict everyone. I also heard that about 50 or so unionized cops were among those who were allowed to stay. Have they made any attempt to restore normal operating hours, or any sort of control; or is the Capitol still wide open at all hours and held by the Left?

Also, any word as to when the layoff notices go out, as I understand that if the Budget Repair Bill was not passed today; based on the bond markets the would not be able to roll over loans and therefore have to cut spending drastically right away?

    Subotai Bahadur

  3. Subotai Bahadur – interesting on the gay slur. Yikes.

The last I heard on the building itself was that they were not going to let any more protesters in until ALL of the leftover people have left. There are about thirty or so in there. They are letting them use the bathrooms.

Assembly people are letting constituents in to visit them, but the Wisconsin DOA seems pretty adamant that there will be no more people allowed in there en masse until everyone is cleared out. So the protesters are in a standoff with…themselves. I have no idea how they will get food unless they are fed by 1) cops or 2) people visiting their elected leaders. I have not heard about any cops in there.

Walker proposes his budget this afternoon. I have heard that massive layoffs are scheduled very soon since the loans couldn’t get refinanced since the senate is unable to do anything on the budget.

  4. Nasty.
That’s the class warfare in its natural.

Btw, yesterday on the local news I heard about Mayor Bloomberg, the newly “independent”, has announced he’s going to fire 4,700 teachers to make the budget. The station then let callers and emailers to get in with their reactions. Guess what – majority were union members of various stripes, outraged and “betrayed”. One actually said “This is Republican plot against Americans”. Hello, is anybody home?

  5. Fortunately, Walker seems to have nerves of steel and he has a great future in national politics. I especially liked his response to Obama.

I’m sure the President knows that most federal employees do not have collective bargaining for wages and benefits while our plan allows it for base pay. And I’m sure the President knows that the average federal worker pays twice as much for health insurance as what we are asking for in Wisconsin. At least I would hope he knows these facts.

Furthermore, I’m sure the President knows that we have repeatedly praised the more than 300,000 government workers who come to work every day in Wisconsin.
I’m sure that President Obama simply misunderstands the issues in Wisconsin, and isn’t acting like the union bosses in saying one thing and doing another.
