Looks like my band will be playing in Chicago on July 15, 2011, first time since 2007.
Details to follow.
(Here is the original of “Arrogance” by the Neighborhoods. (1979). And here is a recent version, three decades later! ‘Hoods 4 Ever!)
Words to the original:
Dawn makes Jimmy realize that his heart beats
despite last night’s attempts to make it stop
Now as he arises from a deep sleep
watch him pick up where he left off
As he combs his hair and casts a glance
his every move spells arrogance
pretty girls in cars play an important part
he picks a lot of fights but he never ever gets beat up
down main street at a slow pace
its all a boy can do to pass the time
night finds Jimmy restless and quite irate
I can sense his urgency to die
now that the street gang’s gone he tries to carry on
its so hard to grow up when there’s so much to live down
futile stance, worthless life
arrogance, arrogance, arrogance, arrogance
(We added guitar solo and a final verse:
Now you see him downtown back on the street again
There isn’t much left of his arrogance
Those years behind bars, those days gone by
He’s just another washed-up tough guy who had his day)
Dude! I am making this happen. I don’t care if I have to pull an all nighter to get into work the next day.
That’s the spirit.
Hey it’s Friday night if Dan can find his way into town I can make it too since it is likely not too far from where I live
Most excellent. Details when I get them.
Holy cow!
I’ll be there! This will make up for missing Phoenix and Bat for Lashes and other bands (and potential Chicagoboyz meetups!) at Lollapalooza the past few summers….grumble, grumble, grumble.
I’m such a kid about this stuff. It really bothered me that I couldn’t go because I HAVE A JOB AND GROWN UP RESPONSIBILITIES and everything :)
Silly.
Anyway. This sounds fun :)
