For Dan, another in my series of Texas cows…
Slightly out of season, of course – the cow mascot at the Poteet Strawberry Festival, which is held in the spring … of course. When strawberries are in season. It is now 184 days to go until the 2012 Festival. Make a note on your calendar.
I promised y’all plenty of cows…
Thats it, I need more bovine photos stat.
I hate to admit this but at a quick glance I thought it said PROTEST Strawberry Festival. Madison has been wearing on me.
Then you need to come down to Texas RIGHT AWAY! For cows, for fantastic BBQ, and for relatively quiet and well-behaved political protests… well, as long as you pass by Austin, our very own little-bit-o-lib-insanity.
I was in Fort Worth a few weeks ago and it was like holding a hair dryer up to my face it was so hot. But I am sure it is better now. Had some great bbq.
I’m berry mooved
So beautiful…
Risking to to appear completely ignorant and/or humorless, I’ll still ask: what cows in particular have to do with strawberries?
Mmm – because there are cows all over Texas, and this one is the mascot for a strawberry festival.
In other words: nothing at all.
Thanks.
Dan – did you stop at Billy Bobs in Ft Worth? That place has to be seen to be believed – even an indoor rodeo.
Unfortunately I was unable to go there. I did hit a place called Angelo’s, which was probably exactly how it looked a half century ago and had some killer brisket.
Billy Bob’s! I was brought there, with considerable detour, just to experience the flavor – and with my lack we came exactly when it was closed. But I was given a vivid description (that was probably better than the reality, so I didn’t miss anything]
MMMM…. Poteet strawberries! Thanks for a little piece of home!
