It is going to nine below zero at 3:00 a.m. tonight.
Stand by for some serious cold, Chicago.

It was painful just watching the Green Bay game today.

I thought the 49ers did a great job with the cold.
I can remember driving in Chicago when my middle daughter was an infant (she is now 33) and it was below zero. We were visiting and staying at a relative’s condo in the west suburbs. As I was driving, I was imagining car trouble on a deserted street at 9PM and what I would do with an infant in those conditions. The car worked fine but it was a concern.
I was there (from California) last February for my birthday and it was two below at Midway Airport. This year I will visit in the summer.

Everything goes, everything comes back; eternally rolls the wheel of being. Everything dies, everything blossoms again; eternally runs the year of being. Everything breaks, everything is joined anew; eternally the same House of Being is built. Everything parts, everything greets every other thing again; eternally the ring of being remains faithful to itself. In every Now, being begins; round every Here rolls the sphere There. The center is everywhere. Bent is the path of eternity.

People better hope the recent low activity of the sun is not indicative of another cool period here on earth. Judging from what I’m seeing in the news, if it ever does actually get seriously cold down there people will not be able to handle it. Though it would take care of the homeless problem in some cities.

Gotta give a tip of the hat to my industry, industrial distribution, and all of the HVAC technicians. Everyone is working themselves into dust to get things fixed and get people warm. It is a good feeling but exhausting too.
