Peter Drucker, the great writer on management and society, said that prior to WWI, European socialism was largely about Hope…after 1918, it was mainly about Resentment.
This was in his first book, from 1939–he said he didn’t yet have enough experience on the United States to comment on the situation here. I think we can now say that Envy and Resentment and Bitterness are very strong among the American ‘progressive’ movement—despite all the claims that these things are phenomena of the Trumpian Right.
