Some Chicago Boyz know each other from student days at the University of Chicago. Others are Chicago boys in spirit. The blog name is also intended as a good-humored gesture of admiration for distinguished Chicago School economists and fellow travelers.
Dan from Madison I absolutely love sayings. One of the most universal ones is “when pigs fly”. Another is “look before you leap”. Also “there is no such thing as a free lunch”.
Maybe “saying” that isn’t the best term for them. Are they adages?
Lets see. Per Mirriam Webster an adage is:
a saying often in metaphorical form that embodies a common observation
And a saying is:
something said ; especially : adage
Be sure to take your dog for a walk every day as they want and need the exercise.
Another pleasant weekend in the City of Chicago.
A little while ago, I purchased a small parcel of land, just under 20 acres. This was a big deal for me, as my whole life I have pretty much banked every single penny I have ever made, preferring to “live small”. On this parcel are a few buildings, one of which we are rehabbing (the old barn). Oh the surprises you run into when rehabbing an ex-dairy farm. But those stories are for another day.
