      Cute/scary is a false dichotomy. The question is whether there are better alternatives. The critics implicitly assume that using government employees for the jobs Blackwater and similar firms do would work better. Not only is this assumption not obviously valid, it’s reasonable to assume that use of US military resources instead of Blackwater would make public scrutiny and accountability for misconduct far more difficult.

      I must admit I was mostly taken by the kitty patches, and the idea of selling Blackwater to a group that’s heavily into health foods.
