Coyotes Continued (Updated!)

Well, apparently the stuff is hitting the fan a little bit wrt the coyote problem here in Madison. Two family pets (both dogs) have now died and there is now a public meeting scheduled, where I assume nothing will be done.

This article was on the front page of the Wisconsin State Journal today. An alderman is quoted a few times in there, and I assume the complaints of the people in his ward are what made him get on the stick to organize the meeting, where wildlife people from the Wisconsin DNR, City of Madison and UW will be attending.

The whole theme of the article is living with the coyotes. There is not one single mention of shooting or trapping them, the time honored way to rid yourself of a pest. I couldn’t ever imagine the council of the city of Madison approving a hunt for them. So reproduce, they will.

RIP Paul Harvey

As I was growing up I listened to Paul Harvey every day on my parents radios on the way to school.   He always seemed to have interesting and inspirational tales to tell.   He had a great sense of humor, and frankly, I don’t really know what political affiliation he had.   I suppose I could find out if I looked, but I prefer to remember him as a great broadcaster, who just seemed to enjoy his work.   Paul Harvey….good day!

Ammo Situation Bleg

There can be little question that the Obama administration will try to assault the rights of gun owners everywhere…eventually.   There is already word of an attempt at another silly “assault weapons” ban, which will be no doubt accompanied by the old canard of “we respect the rights of hunters but  blah blah blah”.   I am not so sure if another ban will go through as there are a lot of Donk senators from states where gun rights is a very large issue.

A more logical approach would be for the Dems to go after ammunition.   Right after the election I read in a lot of places about the “Obama bounce” for gun manufacturers and ammo manufacturers alike.   I, for one,  have been  shopping for  an evil black rifle and have been stockpiling tens of thousands of rounds of ammo of different calibers  for my enjoyment (and/or defense)  later on.

The usual place that I purchase my ammo hasn’t raised their prices much, but they have been out of a lot of stuff lately.   I just ordered from Cabela’s yesterday, and the prices were just slightly higher than I am used to paying, but I also had to eat the freight.   All in all, not too bad of a deal.

I am interested to see in different areas of the country what the ammunition situation looks like, and if you are experiencing any price spikes or shortages.

Federal Tax Credits For Energy Efficient HVAC Equipment

President Obama signed the “stimulus” package into law on February 17.   I prefer the term “porkulus”.

Embedded in that garbage legislation are a mind boggling array of things that really have not much of anything to do with reviving our economy.   Pretty much everybody knows that.

There is a small piece of the “porkulus” that may help you if you are needing to update the mechanical systems of your domicile.
