Some Chicago Boyz know each other from student days at the University of Chicago. Others are Chicago boys in spirit. The blog name is also intended as a good-humored gesture of admiration for distinguished Chicago School economists and fellow travelers.

When VJ Day was declared, my parents had a party that lasted three days. My sister and I had bunk beds in a room at the top of the stairs. It didn’t seem so unusual when drunks would stagger up the stairs and fall into bed with us for a hour or two. My cousin went to work every day and then came back to our house to continue the party. After three days, you could see the ring where she washed her face.
Just about everybody came home although a couple of guys were in a German POW camp and had been injured. They were buddies in the camp and, after they came home, one of them married the other’s sister. They are in the scene in my father’s party room.
I remember quite a bit about the war although not Pearl Harbor.
My own little memorial.
Thanks, David.
Bill Brandt has posted a Memorial Day message from Neptunus Lex, from 2004:

I miss that guy.
